HAIBUN: Pornography

Pornography

Now that I have your attention, let’s detour through Feynman’s
quantum mechanics, right through the double-slit experiment
.

The lecture hall throbs like a cavity resonator, chalk dust drifting
through the projector beam.

Not quite the undressing you came for?

Someone coughs. Someone shifts in a folding seat.

        desire and curiosity
         two sine waves
         in resonance

Feynman warned: “If you think you understand quantum physics,
you don’t.” We stare anyway: eyes as instruments, pulse
as background noise—probabilities collapsing with each stolen glance.

        can’t resist
        Schrödinger’s box—go on . . .
        lift the lid

As for pornography, Supreme Court Justice Stewart couldn’t define it,
only knew it when he saw it. Between Feynman’s uncertainty
and Stewart’s shrug, we vacillate between wave, particle, flesh.
Recognition as arousal. Arousal as cloaked observation.

        oscilloscope rise
        the particle performs
        only when watched
